Oh boy, this had 4* written all over it... it was a toss up between the 5.5m and the 4.7m, and in the end decided to go with my favourite 4.7m. Nicely powered and having a fantastic early morning sail in the sunshine.

But then the wind dropped slightly and the current kicked in taking me downwind and able to get planing again. This was going to be a walk back no doubt, so decided to head for the little bit of beach between the rocks at the end of the road. The current was whipping me round at a startling rate and eventually I fell off in a current swirl near the end of a groyne. The groyne marker pole was at least 10ft away, but like a magnet the board was sucked towards it, and unbelievably the board went one side and the mast the other. So it's wedged fast against the pole by the current and getting pounded by the waves coming the other way. WTF?! Eventually I wrench it free and then I'm instantly washed onto the nasty concrete groynes (look more like WWII defences) and get another pounding - wave after wave. At this point I realise being shipwrecked is overrated, and wonder why I bothered this morning. I manfully manage to get the equipment between myself and the groynes so I'm ok, but then £££ SNAP £££ a wave put a shed load of water on the sail and the mast breaks. Oh boy. At least at that point I was able to get the equipment off the groynes and swim in.

And, on the bright side, it's a whole load easier to derig with a mast in two pieces. Now, anybody got a lower section for a Tush75 430 freewave mast?

Hope everybody else had a good one, were fantastic conditions today!
